How To Reach Florence

Florence is well-connected with the rest of Italy and with Europe, and is easy to access to by car, by train and by air. The city has a central position in Italy.
By Car: The A1 motorway, the main artery road linking the north and south of the country, runs past Florence, which has five exits: Firenze Nord, Firenze Ovest, Firenze Scandicci, Firenze Impruneta and Firenze Sud.
By Train: Florence is also a key node on the Italian railway network. High-speed trains (Frecciarossa and Frecciargento) connect Florence with the most important Italian cities: Milan is under 2 hours away, Rome is one hour and a half, Bologna just 37 minutes away. In Florence there are three main train stations: Santa Maria Novella, Campo di Marte, Firenze Rifredi.
By Air: The Florence Airport (Amerigo Vespucci) is served by a great number of domestic and international flights each day. In the last few years there has been a significant increase in traffic in and out of Florence's city airport, and the infrastructure and facilities are constantly being upgraded. It's just 5 kilometres northwest of the city centre, which can be easily reached either by a shuttle bus or by taxi.
The Pisa Airport (Galileo Galilei) is about 80 kilometres from Florence (but a more important airport). The easiest way to reach Florence by Galilei Airport is by train (about one every hour) and by coach service operated by Terravision.

September is the best period for visiting Florence so that the hotels are usually busy. We suggest to make a reservation early.
We suggest hotels in the center of the city (where meeting venue and social dinner are located).
Taxis are stationed near the train terminal, the airport or can be called by radiotaxi (phone): (+39) 0554242, (+39) 0554390, (+39) 0554798.

It is possible to use an EDUROAM Internet connection, thus please bring with you your EDUROAM credentials.
